The following video has been making rounds on internet: social networking websites, blogs and twitter. I also received it through a couple of forwarded emails.

Eqbal Ahmed is one of the biggest names this country has produced. He was an internationalist in real sense of the word.  He was very critical of the bondage of nationalism and religious fanaticism. He worked as an anti-war activist for years and also collaborated with left-wing activists like Noam Chomsky, Edward Said and Howard Zinn. Edward Said says about Eqbal Ahmed:

I am glad to have found this video on YouTube this morning. Pakistan has been going through the current turmoil for years. Religious extremists with their suicide bombing and other modes of terror have attacked the very fabric of society and culture. Unfortunately, no artist from the mainstream had come forward to condemn them.

Ever since the inception of Pakistan, Extremist Mullahs have always been vying to hijack the State. When I refer to the term ‘Extremist Mullahs’, I draw a line to separate, ‘Islamist Fanatics with a Political Agenda’ from the simple and true Muslim religious scholars who don’t belong to any fanatic organization or political party.
